As Chewbacca in the Star Wars saga, Peter Mayhew touched millions.
Now, memorabilia from the film series will be donated to the late actor's charity.
But only after a dramatic appeal from Mayhew's widow.
The Briton, who is 2.21 meters tall and died in 2019, sold a house in northern England together with his wife Angie around 25 years ago.
They also left early Star Wars memorabilia in the attic, including notes, scripts, and call logs from the production of the original film and episode five, The Empire Strikes Back, as well as autographed photos and a scrapbook.
£150 for a piece of film history
The buyers of the house found the material and turned it over to the local auction house – who enthusiastically accepted the pieces and announced an auction on their website.
The auction house estimated around 150 pounds (around 170 euros) per souvenir.
Mayhew's widow said she and her late husband deeply regretted leaving behind all these memories.
Due to illness, her husband was no longer able "to go to the attic to fetch her".
"It really breaks my heart to see our treasures being auctioned off in this way," she wrote.
Auctioneer Angus Ashworth has said the sellers will donate the items to Mayhew's charity.
As a result, the fans "always have access to it".
