Still dead at work in Italy, yet another dramatic bulletin that is updated on a daily basis.

In the last 48 hours there have been three victims, in Civitavecchia, Trieste and Savona.

Three tragic accidents in which three workers died.

The latest, in chronological order, cost the life of Alberto Motta, 29, who was crushed by a container transport vehicle on one of the docks of the port of the Lazio city.

The fact occurred in the very early hours of the morning: the worker was working for the company that manages the container terminal at the airport.

On the affair, the Public Prosecutor's Office has opened an investigation file entrusted the investigations to the agents of the Maritime Police.

"This tragedy - said the president of the port authority of Civitavecchia Pino Musolino - must push us all to do even more so that similar situations don't happen again".

And the accident at the port of Civitavecchia comes less than 24 hours after the tragedy that took place in another seaport, that of Trieste, where Paolo Borselli, a 58-year-old worker, died after falling into the sea.

An employee of Alpt, the agency for port workers, Borselli fell while he was engaged in reversing with the forklift and attempts to revive him were useless.

Immediately after the accident, Trieste dock workers organized a protest at gate 4 and today the Filt Cgil, Fit Cisl and Uiltrasporti unions called a 24-hour strike in all ports, "as a sign of mourning".

For the trade unions "an active and concrete intervention is urgently needed to stop this massacre. We are committed immediately, to putting in place initiatives with the institutions and employers' parties, aimed at producing concrete and timely actions, starting from the implementation of the devices that foresee the accompaniment of the exodus of port workers".

Furthermore, according to the workers' organisations, the strengthening of training is "essential", "which would certainly reduce exposure to risk" and "the updating of the law on the safety and health of port workers".

The third accident instead occurred in Liguria, where the shop manager of the local public transport company of Savona lost his life.

The victim is a 53-year-old man from Sassello,

Stefano Maccio.

The first investigations revealed that the worker was crushed while he was intent on detaching a bus from a tow truck.

Also in this case, the judiciary has launched an investigation file to clarify the dynamics of what happened.

"This death - underlined the secretaries of CGIL, CISL and UIL Liguria - is the last piece of an unacceptable silent massacre that cannot and must not remain so. Politics must take charge of winning this battle".
