A Reddit user is irritated by a combination of signs.

Can you park here?

Kassel – Even if you learn most street signs in driving school, some constructions in real traffic can confuse even the most experienced road users.

The Reddit user "fishermanfritz" in the German subreddit "r/de" also asked himself whether he could pack at the point he had photographed, reports hna.de.

"I'm completely confused," the user comments on his post on the US social news website.

The user "Kindly_Direction_198" replies with a "clear yes".

The rest of the users try to explain the forest of signs.

The picture shows a total of five signs attached to a tubular post at the roadside.

Do you know if you can park here?

The answer to the Reddit user's question is answered below.

Reddit Post About Street Signs Causes Confusion - Is Parking Allowed Here?

What do the signs that can be seen on the post by the user "fishermanfritz" actually mean?

It is worth taking a look at the traffic sign register of the German Traffic Safety Council.

Sign number one and three should be known to everyone.

These are the signs with the numbers 283 and 286, which indicate the absolute or restricted parking ban.

What the tags on the Reddit post say from top to bottom:

  • Traffic sign 283: Absolutely no stopping

  • Additional sign 1042-33: Time limit based on the absolute ban on stopping.

    It is valid from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.

  • Traffic sign 286: Restricted stopping

  • Additional sign 1042-33: Time limit related to the limited stopping ban.

    It is valid from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m

  • Sign 315: The vehicle may park on the sidewalk, in this case it must be completely on it.

This is only permitted on the right-hand side of the road.

  • An additional sign is added to the no-parking signs.

The additional sign 1042-33 indicates a time limit for the no-stopping zone.

This means that there is an absolute ban on stopping in this area between 6 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Street Sign Confusion on Reddit – What Does the Last Sign Say?

The last sign in the Reddit post image is the 315 traffic sign, which comes in a variety of shapes.

Basically, it states that a vehicle may be parked on the sidewalk.

You can build your own mnemonic: if your car is parked as shown in the picture, you don't have to worry about a ticket.

In this case, the parking sign says: Vehicles must be parked as a whole on the right-hand sidewalk.

The arrows in both directions indicate that this parking permit is permitted both before and after the tubular post.

Other street signs also cause confusion when parking because hardly anyone knows them: the car cut in half is a prime example of this.
