A 73-year-old disabled woman died in a fire that broke
out last night in the apartment where she lived alone, in a two-story building in via Maltese in Palermo.
The flames were put out by firefighters.
According to an initial reconstruction,
the fire would have resulted from a short circuit in an electrical outlet
.
The alarm at the fire brigade switchboard went off just before 4 am. Immediate help was given to put out the flames, but it was not possible to save the woman.
118 personnel also intervened on the spot. The carabinieri are investigating.
