(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 11 - The first Italian aid for the areas of Syria controlled by President Assad's government arrived in Beirut tonight.
It is also the first aid of a country of the European Union.
And it is material offered by the San Donato Group.
It is about 30 tons of medical material, including 4 ambulances and a team of 4 doctors.
The material was welcomed by the Italian charge d'affaires in Damascus Massimiliano D'Antuono and the president of the Syrian Red Crescent.
The material will be transferred tomorrow to Damascus in collaboration with the SARC which will distribute it in the most affected areas, Lattakia, Aleppo, Hama and Tartous.
