The scenario:
Cold fall, icy landscape.
The bones of a young woman who has been missing for years are found in the wintry Black Forest.
Franziska Tobler (Eva Löbau) and Friedemann Berg (Hans-Jochen Wagner) have to open the cold case again and investigate a village community that is trapped almost without a word in the conflicts and culpable entanglements of the past.
But why talk when everyone agrees anyway that the village alcoholic (Aurel Manthei) is the culprit – and that this leper should be driven out of the valley just like the wolf that kills the sheep on the slopes at night.
The highlight:
In the hills the wolf howls, in the valley the people growl.
This winter "crime scene" tells of the emotional needs of its protagonists by reflecting the emotional needs in the landscape.
This visual game works well until the weather thwarts the concept: the snowy weather conditions during the shoot were so difficult that the story couldn't be put together correctly in the editing room.
In one scene it is dry, in the next the Black Forest lies under a blanket of snow.
The picture:
birds on branches.
However, the animals are not sitting outside in the winter landscape, but are draped on the suspect's living room wall as stuffed objects.
One of the few moments in this »crime scene« in which the creature is tamed.
Otherwise, the wilderness rules.
The dialogue:
The victim's parents talk about the suspect, with whom the husband has been in contact for reasons of family ties.
Woman: "Tell me, are you crazy! He beat his girlfriend to death and beat the other one to the hospital. When are you going to open your eyes?”
Man: "Listen, he's my cousin."
Woman: »When are you going to open your eyes? You're so fucking decent!"
The music:
Morning by Petter Samuelsen.
Day breaks over the Black Forest, the icicles on the trees are melting, the donkeys are grazing in the dew, and over it all lies this piano track that sounds like the rising sun.
