Cospito, Pg Cassation: "The 41 bis is only used to avoid other crimes"

The Cassation annuls, with postponement for a new examination, the order of the surveillance court of Rome which confirmed the 41 bis for Alfredo Cospito.

The pg of the Cassation Piero Gaeta writes it in the opinion filed on 8 February in view of the council chamber of the Cassation on Alfredo Cospito scheduled for 24 February.

presented by the anarchist's defence, against the decision of the surveillance court of Rome to confirm him the hard prison regime.

La Stampa writes that the Attorney General would consider the 41 bis to Cospito superseded by events and that the request to revoke it is contained in the text of the indictment filed last Tuesday.

In the meantime, the anarchist's condition worries the doctors

Cospito, 55 - who has been on a hunger strike for 115 days in protest and now also refuses supplements - was transferred yesterday afternoon from the clinical center of the Opera prison to the penitentiary medicine department of the San Paolo hospital in Milan.

  Upon his arrival in the San Paolo penitentiary medicine department, he refused the wheelchair, entered on their legs and thanked them, asking them "sorry for the inconvenience".

Since yesterday afternoon he has been in one of the two rooms, real cells, for prisoners at 41 bis.

From what has transpired in legal circles, the anarchist on hunger strike for almost 4 months was transferred from the Opera to the hospital in less than a quarter of an hour with maximum security and secrecy thanks to the professionalism of about thirty agents of prison police.

Meanwhile, the eleven anarchists who yesterday were taken to the police headquarters after the afternoon clashes during the march in Milan in solidarity with Alfredo Cospito have all been charged with various crimes relating to public order.

During the clashes, six policemen were injured.
