A major fire in Sittensen in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in Lower Saxony caused property damage in the millions early on Sunday morning.
As the Rotenburg police department announced, there was a fire at a vehicle dealer.
The company concerned trades in used trucks, buses, cranes, construction and agricultural machinery.
Many of the vehicles burned down, it said.
Since the company is located directly on Autobahn 1, the huge clouds of smoke also blew across the Autobahn.
The police estimate the damage to be in the millions.
According to information from the

Many similar cases – police suspect arson
The police do not rule out arson.
In the nearby town of Weertzen, a minibus caught fire on the premises of a car dealer shortly before midnight.
The fire has been extinguished.
The police estimated the damage at around 30,000 euros.
"In both cases there are many indications of arson," it said.
In addition, there had already been a major fire not far from Sittensen last Sunday.
At that time, 21 cars caught fire in the car park of a car rental company in Rotenburg (Wümme).
According to the police, there have been more than a dozen similar fires in the Rotenburg district in recent months.
This also fuels the suspicion of arson.
