An eleven-year-old thriller becomes an overnight bestseller on Amazon.
With the corona pandemic, the BookTok phenomenon has really gone through the roof.
In recent months there has been news about books that have been out for some time and are only selling moderately.
However, through BookTok, they became very well known within a very short time and some became bestsellers.
Now it hit the lawyer Lloyd Devereux Richards, whose thriller became an overnight success.

He started on "Stone Maidens" about 14 years ago.
Because of a full-time job and his family, book sales hadn't really taken off.
The title languished for eleven years at Amazon's own publishing company.
But then a short video that his daughter posted on TikTok with the hashtag #BookTok changed everything almost overnight.
According to spiegel.de, the title is number 1 on the American Amazon website in the “Police Crime” category. This is what happens to some books that are hyped on TikTok.

BookTok recently hit 100 billion views on TikTok.
Very remarkable for the book sector, which tends to eke out a shadowy existence.
The most famous author who became successful through BookTok is Colleen Hoover.
Her novel "It Ends With Us" was published in 2016, but only really became known through TikTok.
The book went over the counter several million times.
Now it's even going to be made into a movie.
The big trade publishers, including dtv and Piper, use their own TikTok accounts to promote their titles.

Stone Maiden: overnight bestseller
On “Stone Maidens” it was a regular overnight success.
The Stone Maidens account was recently created.
So it doesn't depend on the number of followers whether a title becomes successful.
In this case, the algorithm had flushed the book into the "For you" view of thousands of users.
The short video, just 17 seconds long, caught the eye.
The title went through the roof on Amazon.
The above TikTok video collected more than 14,000 comments, and the trend is rising.
