(ANSA) - CATANIA, FEBRUARY 13 - "If the matter of the dispute had not ceased, due to the successful landing, the appeal would have been accepted with consequent condemnation of the ministries".
This was affirmed by the sentence of the Civil Court of Catania on the appeal against the government's Immigration Decree presented by 35 refugees rescued by Humanity 1, among those who landed in the port of the Etna capital on November 6, 2022.
In a passage of the sentence, the president Marisa Acagnino writes that "the decree is illegitimate" because "it allows rescue only to those in precarious health conditions, contravening the content of international obligations" on rescue at sea.
