Malka will play the character of Chen Ben Atar (28), a single mother to Uri, a sensitive 10-year-old boy. He is the most important thing in her life, and she will do anything for him - at least that's what she tells herself.

Chen is a woman who navigates the world without financial support or emotional support, and without an organized plan to get her out of this situation.

Surrogacy seems to her like a magic solution that will lead her to an independent and orderly life.

But Chen does not take into account that this work cannot be left in the middle, as is usual.

"I came to the first audition like I come to all auditions, but something happened in this text," she says.

"When I read, I understand when it's high quality and good, and when it's not - and there I immediately realized it's really good."

How was the audition?

"In the first audition, I worked with the director Shay Capon for about an hour, because he wanted to see my range, and in that time we discovered depths and a more mature side of me. It's something that exists in me that we haven't seen until today."

What can be said about the character?

"She is a very deep character with many layers who has been through quite a bit in life, and I identified with her in many situations - mainly in the complexity of her life. She constantly switches between jobs and chases after money to satisfy the desires of her child, and this complexity meets me in situations I have experienced in life."

In what situation?

"When my father was killed in a car accident, my mother became a widow, and she always had the desire to buy us the most valuable things so that we would not feel deprived. I took a lot of inspiration from her for this role. I was not a surrogate in my real life, but I found these feelings through other cases in life."

Did you meet surrogates in preparation for the job?

"I talked to surrogates, I saw movies and I opened up to an amazing and exciting world. They are angels in white for the couples for whom they bring the child. The field of surrogacy is organized and it is difficult to be accepted as a surrogate, but in our series Chen does it for the money, and not in the name of ideals."

Can you imagine yourself going through such a process?

"I still can't see myself as a mother, so I certainly can't say if I can be pregnant for others. It's giving your body and yourself to someone else. There aren't many people who agree to do something like that. There is huge satisfaction and great happiness, and you have to get To a very high place to do such a thing - and I wish I could get there."

How was it with Rotem, Yehuda and Lior?

"At first I was afraid, because I was playing with the two biggest sharks in the State of Israel. I sat on the first day and didn't know how to behave, but as soon as they opened their mouths and talked to me - all the fear level went down. They gave me a friendly and collaborative feeling, they were honest and open and I felt very comfortable to play with them. During this period I mostly learned from them."

It is impossible without asking about the future of his holiday.

"Thanks to her, I'm nominated for the Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress. Hago has made an amazing journey, and I hope she'll come back. Do you see 'The Commander' continuing without her?! Well, really."
