(ANSA) - LISBON, FEBRUARY 13 - An independent investigation into the sexual abuse of minors by members of the Portuguese Catholic clergy since 1950 has revealed at least 4,815 victims.
The commission in charge today unveiled its conclusions after having recorded hundreds of accounts of the victims.
The Portuguese investigation was commissioned by the Portuguese Church.
"These testimonies allow us to reach a much wider network of victims, calculated on the minimum number of 4,815 victims", said the coordinator of this commission of experts, the child psychiatrist Pedro Strecht, during the presentation of the final report in Lisbon.
