++ OECD: record drop in unemployment in Europe, Italy at 7.8%

(ANSA) - PARIS, FEBRUARY 14 - Record drop for unemployment in Europe: in the European Union and in the euro area the unemployment rate remained at "historically low" levels, at 6.1% and 6.6% respectively, even as of December 2022: this is what the OECD says, specifying that the figure has "remained stable or decreased in over 70% of the countries in the euro area".

In Italy, the rate remained stable, at 7.8%, in December 2022 compared to November.

In Germany it fell to 2.9% and in France it rose to 7.1%.

In the OECD area, the rate remained stable at 4.9%.

This is the sixth consecutive month at this level, the lowest since the beginning of the series in 2001. (ANSA).
