The Italy-Holy See summit is underway at Palazzo Borromeo on the occasion of the celebration of the 94th anniversary of the Lateran Pacts with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, who welcomed the Vatican delegation headed by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, and by the president of the CEI, Cardinal Matteo Zuppi.
At the meeting, which is held at the Italian embassy to the Holy See, the Italian delegation will be led by the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella.
The Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni will not participate in the celebration, instead of her, the undersecretary Alfredo Mantovano and several ministers of her government.
Yesterday, the premier, due to a state of flu, had had to cancel all the commitments on her agenda.
The presence of the Presidents of the Chamber and Senate, Lorenzo Fontana and Ignazio La Russa is also expected.
Also present in the Vatican delegation are the substitute for General Affairs, Monsignor Edgar Pena Parra, and the Secretary for Relations with States, Monsignor Paul Richard Gallagher.
The president of the CEI, Cardinal Matteo Maria Zuppi, was instead accompanied, among others, by the secretary general, Monsignor Giuseppe Baturi.
