The violent death of a trans teenage girl in the central English town of Warrington has sparked national outrage.
In Liverpool and Bristol, vigils are to take place in the trans scene in the evening, as the British news agency PA reported – events were also planned in London, Glasgow and Leeds.
16-year-old Brianna was stabbed in a park in Warrington over the weekend and then found by passers-by.
So far, the police have not assumed hate crimes in the context of their gender identity.
However, after the first interrogations, the authorities emphasized that they were investigating in all directions.
A boy and a girl - both 15 years old - have been arrested on suspicion of murder.
Ghey had a TikTok account with thousands of followers where she mostly posted dance and lip syncing videos.
She posted her last video a few hours before her death.
“She was a larger than life personality who left a lasting impression on everyone who met her.
Brianna was beautiful, witty and funny.
Brianna was strong, fearless and unique," Ghey's family wrote in a statement.
There are also reactions to Ghey's death in British politics.
Labor MP Nadia Whittome wrote on Twitter that "Brianna deserves a chance to be a beautiful adult woman and experience a world where trans people are safe and respected."
A fundraiser website has already received more than £69,000 (more than €78,000) in donations for the families of those killed.
Trans people or trans gender are people who do not feel they belong to the gender they were assigned at birth.
