After the fatal shooting of a youth in the north of Dortmund last August, the public prosecutor charged five police officers.
The Bochum lawyer Michael Emde, who represents one of the accused, confirmed to the dpa news agency that the indictment had been received.
Accordingly, the public prosecutor's office charged the shooter with manslaughter, the service group leader with incitement to dangerous bodily harm and three officers with dangerous bodily harm.
"Bild" and WDR had previously reported.
The police were called to a youth welfare facility on August 8, 2022, where the young refugee Mouhamed D. from Senegal is said to have threatened to kill himself with a knife.
The operation initially ran as an intervention in a suicide attempt.
The 16-year-old was shot at by police with pepper spray and two tasers to render him unable to fight.
Finally, a police officer fired a submachine gun, and the youth died in hospital.
