The suspect is also dead, he is said to have shot himself.

According to police, the man opened fire on the campus in East Lansing, a good 145 kilometers northwest of Detroit.

He shot in a hall of the Berkey Hall building and in another building.

Everyone on the university campus was told to get to safety.

If both are impossible, one should defend oneself, it was said in explanation.
