A humble house made of wood and exposed brick, located in the quiet
Los Hornitos neighborhood of Neuquén capital
, was the scene of a
double femicide
in which a woman and her daughter were stabbed to death.
Norma Morales (58) and her daughter Luz de los Milagros Prieto (20)
were attacked with a knife by the former partner,
Jorge Antonio Lagos (55)
.
On Sunday morning, a Pluspetrol company worker reported that he had found
the remains of a human body
in the extraction area
on the fences
of the town of Plottier.
It is a geography that combs the wind, desolate, treeless and similar to a desert.
Investigators were initially unable to identify the remains of a person who had clearly been severed and
slit before being moved by vehicle to this little-traveled spot
.
That night, Neuquén Police officers went to the home of Norma and Luz, alerted by another
of the woman's daughters, Lorena, who could not communicate
with her mother and her ex-partner.
Lagos
did not allow him to speak to her, assuring
that he had gone out to a wake
.
After hitting insistently, in the context of a scene that Lorena herself and some neighbors joined, the man went out to attend to them.
He informed them
that they were both at a wake a few blocks away.
Nobody believed him
.
The targeted assassin hurried to close the door and told them that he would go for them.
With the authorization of the daughter present herself, the agents
entered the property
and discovered
a brutal scene
.
On the ground was
Norma completely bloodied
.
Meanwhile, Lagos
had fled
in the vehicle of his ex-partner, although he was arrested a few minutes later.
The murderer was lodged at the Neuquén 18 Police Station and this Tuesday, February 14 at 8:30 a.m. will be the hearing where the charges
will be formally presented
.
Chief prosecutor José Gerez has already announced that the prosecutor's office will request his
preventive detention
.
“We are working very
quickly from the prosecutor's office together with the police to clarify the femicides
.
In less than 24 hours we have managed to arrest who we consider to be the perpetrator and tomorrow he will be formally charged and we will request his preventive detention.
It is a case that we will request from the prosecutor's office that a popular jury judge it, "
prosecutor Gerez told
Clarín .
"(Norma) suffered multiple stab wounds, some vital and
others
postmortem
," reported the prosecutor in the Eugenia Titanti case and the chief homicide prosecutor, Agustín García.
Miriam, one of the neighbors who lives in the neighborhood and was a friend of Norma, recounted that she witnessed the entry of the Neuquén police into the house.
According to what she said, the murderer
had been with Norma's body for at least a day
, since it is estimated that he committed the homicides on Saturday morning.
"
The guy was in there, with the fan on,
with a light at the foot of the bed," Miriam told the newspaper
La Mañana
.
“When the policeman got in and opened the door with a stick, he came out.
He closed the door and told her that Norma and Luz had gone to
Luz's father's wake, which was a lie,
"he added.
Jorge Antonio Lagos (55), arrested and accused of the double femicide in Neuquén against his ex and her daughter.
Lies, violence and mourning in Neuquén
And he gave more details: "Luz's father did not die. All the neighbors began to say that it was a lie because
Norma does not go out without the car
. Then Jorge tells the police: 'Stop, I'm going to look for them because they are here around the corner. When the policeman turned to take Lorena out, because they all wanted to get inside the house, he
ran out
and the two policemen who had come followed him. They
caught him at the bakery
."
As it turned out, Norma and Jorge Antonio Lagos had been a couple for two years.
Her friends and family say that he was a
violent person, with an aggressive temperament
and that after several separations the woman had definitively ended the relationship.
The man would have appeared at the house on several occasions to
claim that he lived in a precarious economic condition and slept on the street
.
Faced with this, Norma
would have allowed him to return
for a few days to the place they shared while she and her daughter were away for a few days.
But upon her return, according to this version, Lagos furiously claimed that she was with someone else.
This could have been the trigger for the double femicide.
The discussion would have broken out on Saturday morning and the neighbors were able to hear it.
Then the silence and the evasions of the assassin.
From the governorship led by Omar Gutiérrez, a
24-hour
provincial duel was decreed for this crime.
"This unfortunate and reprehensible act of violence has
shocked all the citizens
of the Province of Neuquén (...) All measures are being carried out to allow a prompt clarification of the cause," the governor said in a statement.
