Final green light from the Eurochamber to the agreement, reached by the EU last November, on the stop to newly registered polluting vehicles (therefore petrol and diesel) starting from 2035.
The final ok from the Plenary took place with 340 votes in favor , 279 against and 21 abstentions.
In the next few hours, the European Commission will also present the proposal for a regulation on the new CO2 emission standards for heavy vehicles.
Zero-emission city buses from 2030 and a 90% cut in emissions for fleets of other new heavy vehicles by 2040 are the main elements, barring last-minute changes. According to the text, viewed by ANSA, the new heavy vehicles will have to reduce CO2 emissions progressively by 45% in 2030, by 65% by 2030 and by 90% by 2040.
