"The only thing that really surprises me in Munich is the extraordinary lack of knowledge to come to real solutions." With these harsh words conductor Sir Simon Rattle described the delays in the renovation of the Munich concert hall in an interview with the "Abendzeitung". Gasteig criticized.
The actions of those responsible left him speechless.
Rattle takes over the post of chief conductor of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra in the fall.
He succeeds the late Principal Conductor Mariss Jansons.
There is a huge need for action in Munich and Bavaria, said Rattle.
It is very important to stay on the ball.
But he didn't want to be deterred and put the music in the foreground.
"I would really like not to have to deal with politics all the time in Munich," says the conductor.
Prime Minister Markus Söder (CSU) had ordered a pause for thought for the prestige project in view of the sharp rise in costs.
Opponents of the project fear exorbitant costs of up to one billion euros.
