The study, conducted by Social Policy and Development Consulting Limited, examines 11 greenhouses in Kenya, Uganda and Ethiopia, of which 9 are certified and two are not.

The research draws on contributions from more than 650 workers through surveys and focus groups, as well as interviews with farm management, Fairtrade staff and other floral industry stakeholders.

The study informs a note - assures that workers in Fairtrade greenhouses enjoy higher wages, better working conditions and greater involvement in labor rights and gender equality issues, when compared to their counterparts in other non-profit organisations. certified.

Researchers have found that Fairtrade has a "positive" economic impact on greenhouse workers:

69% report higher wages when compared to their counterparts in non-certified greenhouses.

Furthermore, the study says that the proportion of workers falling into the highest wage category is more than double in Fairtrade greenhouses than in non-certified ones.
