How was a song born?
Sometimes in a cosmic and exciting way that was impossible to plan.
This is what happened to the veteran singer Miri Aloni with the song "To God of Words", which she releases today (Wednesday).
• Miri Aloni: "I'm at home, everything is cancelled"
• The singer Miri Aloni suffered a serious infection, her leg was amputated
Aloni was asked by the "Mosifim al Haor" festival, where people with disabilities compete in songwriting, to sing the song that will win first place in the competition.
As someone who herself became disabled, she immediately responded to the request.
"When I got a call from the production of the festival, which was initiated by Esther Dagan Kaniel, they told me that the theme was the work of people with disabilities, and asked me if I would be willing to volunteer to sing the winning song. I immediately agreed," shares Miri.
Miri Aloni - "To the God of Words"
"I asked to speak with the creator, but they told me that no one was allowed to know, and that it would only be revealed on the evening of the show. So the only thing I had was what was written under the title of the song, which was written by Nohar Shanir, who suffered a severe head injury when he was 11 years old.
"On the day of the festival, I received a message from Mirik Schnir, my cousin, who wrote to me, 'Let's meet tonight, I'm coming with my son Nohar.' By the way, this amazing song was composed and arranged by Moshe Danino."
What charmed you so much about this song?
"I don't have transparent people, and the suffering of others has always touched me, but now that I myself have joined the disabled community, it hurts me even more."
These days she appears with the show "Miri Aloni celebrates life on one leg", and according to her, "If there is one thing that connects us - it is the nostalgic songs of the beautiful Land of Israel".
