Erich Kästner's books were also burned during National Socialism.

Thankfully, his stories have survived to this day.

In particular, his story about the conference of animals could not be more relevant at the moment.

Erich Kästner also received awards for his screenplays, including the double Lottchen.

A Federal Cross of Merit and the well-known Hans Christian Andersen Prize, which the writer and children's book author Astrid Lindgren also won.
