(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 15 - Global oil demand is expected to increase by 2 million barrels per day (mb/d) in 2023, reaching a record 101.9 mb/d (1.4 mb/d more than the average for 2019) and half of this demand should come from China (+900,000 barrels per day), recovering after the anti-Covid policies.
The estimate is from the International Energy Agency (IEA) in the February report on the oil market which however warns that a restriction on production by the OPEC+ countries with Russia under pressure due to the sanctions could reduce supplies in the second half of the year.
Production would therefore be led by non-OPEC+ countries.
The reopening of the borders will increase China's air traffic.
Demand for jet fuel is expected to increase from 1.1 mb/d to 7.2 mb/d, 90% of 2019 levels
