Miracle in the middle of the morning: a small plane crashed while carrying out an emergency maneuver in a semi-rural area of Berisso.
Although the aircraft was destroyed and caught fire, the two crew members were able to get out of the cockpit in time and were unharmed.
The plane crash occurred this Thursday at 1 near the intersection between Provincial Route 11 (Interbalnearia) and 635 Street in the Villa Pozatti neighborhood.
It is on the limit between Berisso and the Buenos Aires capital.
There are fields, pastures and some constructions.
There is even a real estate development near there, known as the “La Hermosura” neighborhood.
According to police and fire sources that intervened in the incident,
the aircraft was a cargo one, it belonged to the Correo Papeles company and it had the Uruguayan flag.
It
is a Gran Caravan model registration CX-Max 028 that, according to the flight chart, had departed from the city of Carrasco, Uruguay, and was headed to the Ezeiza International Airport.
It is still unknown what was the fault that led to the fall.
An alleged loss or lack of fuel is mentioned.
Or also a mechanical fault.
What is certain is that the pilots
managed to inform the air traffic control operators that they were in trouble
and that they were beginning an emergency procedure.
From the first tests, it is known that the drivers decided to land in a field, next to Route 11. When it touched the ground, the device did not resist the impact.
The plane was left on a dirt street, at 78 e 135 and 136 de Berisso.
It is about 700 meters from the highway that begins in that region and then runs through all the beaches of the Buenos Aires coast to the south.
The agents who arrived at the scene could see remains of the fuselage scattered on the road, damage to the trees and to the electrical network wiring.
However,
the device did not affect nearby homes and neither did the neighbors.
Many called the emergency phones when they heard the explosions and the fire in the aircraft.
SAME ambulances arrived at the scene and transferred the pilots, who were identified as
Claudio Camacho (51) and Ariel Canedo (26)
, both Uruguayan citizens.
They were taken to the San Martín hospital for observation.
They had no injuries, health sources said.
It is not yet known how they managed to get out of the accident alive.
