In recent years, the world of yachting has presented a variety of innovations, designs and treats that never cease to surprise.
The last word in the field comes with the yacht named "Plectrum", sponsored by the Italian design house Lazzarini Design Studio.
The impressive vessel - which is currently in its concept stage - reaches a length of 74 meters.
Dedicated fins provide it with lifting power, which allows it to "float" above the surface of the water at high speeds.
The CNN website reports that according to its designers, the inspiration for its design comes from the yachts participating in the old sailing competition "America's Cup" (America's Cup).

15,000 horsepower on the water
However, instead of receiving its energy from the wind, similar to the sailing yachts used in the international competition, the Plectrum is powered by three hydrogen engines.
Each engine of this type is capable of delivering 5,000 horsepower.
While the technology used by vessels known as "fins" is considered quite old, it is only in recent years that its popularity has grown considerably.
However, producing a fin of such an impressive size would undoubtedly be a significant achievement.
As mentioned, although this yacht is still on the drawing board, its designers claim that it can be produced within two years, at a cost of 87 million dollars.
This is, of course, if a buyer is found for it.
"It is worth remembering that already in 1964, the production of a vessel of this type was absolutely possible," the yacht's designers declare.
It was also reported that it will be possible to adjust her fins according to the nature of the desired sailing, especially when high speed sailing is required.

Six accommodation units and a central suite
The lightweight yacht will be built from composite materials and carbon fiber, and will have the ability to reach a speed of 75 knots (about 140 km/h). And of course, the yacht will be decorated with plenty of treats. It will have six accommodation units, a suite for the owner, a helipad and also an area Leisure that will span four levels and will of course include a swimming pool.

The Plectrum is the latest of several extraordinary yacht designs by the Lazzarini design house.
Last year, the studio unveiled the Sovrano concept, a huge 169-meter-long superyacht with landing pads for a pair of helicopters and a "retractable" deck.
At the same time, the Spanish design studio Rodriguez Design revealed Catalina, an impressive concept yacht with five decks and a huge jacuzzi in the style of an infinity pool.
