There are 386 thousand hirings expected by companies for the month of February and 1.2 million for the February-April quarter, +68 thousand compared to February 2022 (+21.5%) and +175 thousand with reference to the entire quarter (+17 ,1%). (HANDLE)

(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 16 - There are 386 thousand hirings expected by companies for the month of February and 1.2 million for the February-April quarter, +68 thousand compared to February 2022 (+21.5%) and +175 thousand with reference to the entire quarter (+17.1%).

The positive trend in the demand for labor from companies in these first months of the year is also confirmed by comparing the pre-Covid levels (February 2019), with respect to which there is a growth of 15.6%, equal to +52 thousand hirings.

The mismatch between job demand and supply is still growing, affecting 46.2% of the profiles sought, a value approximately 6 percentage points higher than a year ago.

Outlining this scenario is the Bulletin of the Excelsior Information System, produced by Unioncamere and Anpal.

There are 132,000 hirings scheduled for the month by the industry.

Alongside construction with 48,000 wanted workers, some of the distinctive Made in Italy supply chains are creating more job opportunities for the manufacturing sector, led by mechatronics (22,000 hires), followed by metallurgy and the manufacture of metal products (18,000), by food (10 thousand) and by the textile, clothing and footwear industries, although the latter are still below the pre-Covid level (-15.2% on February 2019).

On the other hand, the services plan 254,000 entries and the tourism chain is confirmed as the driving force behind the demand for work (56,000 entries).

The contribution of commerce (52,000) and personal services (42,000) was also substantial.

178,000 professional profiles, equal to 46.2% of the total hiring planned in February (+5.9 percentage points on February 2022), are difficult to find.

The lack of candidates is confirmed as the main reason for the mismatch and is up on last year (+5.4), while the other reasons remain virtually unchanged.

The most affected by the mismatch are companies in the metallurgy and manufacturing of metal products (58.5% of the profiles sought are difficult to find), the wood and furniture industries (56.1%), construction companies (54.9%) , the textile, clothing and footwear industries (52.1%) and mechatronics companies (51.5%).
