At least 36 civilians have been killed in an attack attributed to the Islamic State (ISIS) in central Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) said.
The jihadist group "today killed 36 people who were picking truffles in Sokhne, in the Palmyra region, in the countryside near Homs", said the London-based NGO.
Other harvesters managed to escape, added the Osdh, which had announced an initial toll of 30 civilians killed.
A few days ago, last Saturday, there was a similar attack in the same region where 16 people were killed.
Again, the victims were collecting truffles, the NGO specified, adding that around sixty people were also kidnapped on that occasion, 25 of whom were later released today, while the fate of the others still remains unknown.
According to Osdh, Isis takes advantage of the fact that the inhabitants of remote rural areas venture to collect truffles to attack them.

The four American soldiers were injured in an explosion during a raid in which one of the leaders of ISIS, Hamza al-Homsi, was killed.
"Four US soldiers and a service dog were injured during a joint operation with the Syrian Democratic Forces last night," Centcom Central Command said in a statement.
