The family of Lucio Dupuy, dissatisfied with the ruling: "They killed him out of hatred of the male gender, we are going to insist on that"

After the sentence, the victim's relatives showed up with their lawyer José Aguerrido, who said that he will also request Valenti's conviction for sexual abuse.

After Magdalena Espósito Valenti (26) -the mother of Lucio Dupuy- and her partner Abigail Páez (28) were sentenced this Friday in La Pampa to life imprisonment for the murder of the 5-year-old boy in November 2021, the family of the victim expressed his disagreement with the ruling.

This was made known by his lawyer José Aguerrido, who, a little more than two hours after the sentences were announced, gave a press conference in Santa Rosa where he announced that he would insist on

the aggravating circumstance for "gender hatred."

"We understand that the homicide occurs due to hatred of the male gender, we are going to insist on that," he said in dialogue with the press.

Along the same lines, he added: "Also with the historical reconstruction of what happened to Lucio that involves the mother in the field of sexual abuse, so we understand that she must also be convicted of that crime."

In this sense, he admitted that he was not satisfied with the court ruling expressed around 12 noon.

In this regard, he explained: "

Many noticed my disgusted face when the sentence was read.

What we wanted was a literal expression of the court. In paragraph 21 the court that sentenced them says 'never the sentenced to life imprisonment for the crime of aggravated homicide will exhaust its compliance.' That is, literal life," he complained.

"They don't come out anymore.

The court makes this clarification that the perpetual sentence is perpetual because they have no possibility of accessing parole in any way," he said.

Then he returned to the two issues for which he will continue to work: including the

aggravating factor for "gender hatred"

in the case and judging Magdalena Espósito Valenti for sexually abusing her son.

Two facts about which Aguerrido claims to have sufficient evidence.

"We understand that there are sufficient elements to determine that he was sexually abused by his mother. The other is the question of violence, which we understand to be a homicide due to violence against the male gender. It is an important question," remarked the lawyer for the family that was accompanied by Lucio Dupuy's grandfather who stayed by his side throughout the conference.

On this last point, he emphasized the differences between the work carried out by the Public Prosecutor's Office regarding the case and that carried out by his team, with which he indicated that he took a more in-depth approach to determine the causes of the crime.

"The Public Prosecutor's Office attacked the form of commission. We went to the most difficult part, we adhered to the form of commission but we went to the motivations. As soon as the process began, we found Lucio's autopsy and it is quite graphic. If one wants to find an explanation, the only rational way is from hatred of the male gender," he insisted.

Finally, the lawyer reflected on what this fact means for Argentine society.

"

The Lucio case is a hinge

. The sentence is a consequence of the atrocities that these two people did. But I think that the Lucio case marks a before and after regarding the protection of children and the early detection of abuse," he concluded.
