The Belgian Tim Wellens won the 3rd stage of the cycling Vuelta Andalucia-Ruta del Sol, held today from Alcalá de Guadaira to Plaza Alameda de la Cruz and 160 kilometers long.
Today's stage, which was also third from last, was conditioned by the strong wind, to the point that the organizers had to change the route, preventing the riders from climbing to the summit of Alto de Alcalá de los Gazules, where they had been originally scheduled arrival.
The winner, who competes in the UAE Emirates jersey, started on the final climb, detaching all his breakaway companions and conquering his first success of the season.
Behind the winner was the French Pierre Latour, then Samuele Battistella.
Two other Italians, Davide Bais and Edoardo Zambanini, finished respectively in 6th and 7th place.
The Slovenian Tadej Pogacar, who had won the first two stages, easily kept the lead in the general classification.
Tomorrow the 4th and penultimate stage is scheduled, with departure from Olvera and arrival in Iznájar, after 164.2 kilometers of racing.
The grand finale is scheduled for Sunday.
