(ANSA) - LOS ANGELES, FEBRUARY 18 - Not only director Alice Rohrwacher and make-up artist Aldo Signoretti: on March 12 there is another Italian who is running for a statuette in the most important evening for Hollywood and international cinema.

Chiara Tilesi, born in Florence, but in Los Angeles for 25 years, is among the producers of the film 'Tell it like woman', nominated for the Oscar for best original song "Applause", written by DianeWarren (in her 14th nomination) and performed by Sofia carson.

"It's an ode to the strength of women and the need to support us, to applaud us," says the producer.

It is this philosophy that 7 years ago prompted her to create the non-profit production company We do it together, which promotes projects "that aim to give a voice to women, often represented in a limited way on the small and large screen, as objects or victims.

The key word is that together", continues Tilesi, who will open a new office in Italy in April, after the one in Los Angeles.

"Tell it like a woman" is a film made up of seven short films shot by eight different directors (Maria Sole Tognazzi, Lucía Puenzo, Catherine Hardwicke, Leena Yadav, MipoO, Taraji P. Henson, Lucia Bulgheroni and Silvia Carobbio).

Born from an idea by Tilesi and financed by Iervolino and Lady Bacardi Entertainment, it is to all intents and purposes an Italian film, even if shooting took place in Japan, Italy, India and the United States.

The cast includes stars such as Cara Delevingne, MarciaGay Harden, Eva Longoria, Jennifer Hudson and Margerita Buy.

"The film is made up of segments and needed a strong and recognizable leitmotif - explains Tilesi - So, six years ago, I asked Diane to write a song. When she called me to her studio, she played the piano and made me listen to 'Applause' I was moved: it was perfect!".

Before the Oscars, "Tell it like a woman" will receive another prestigious award: on March 3 the film will be screened at the UN general assembly in New York, for a reflection on the issues of gender-based violence and female empowerment which will open the dedicated month to women.
