After the deadly shots at Michigan State University that left three dead and five injured, there have been numerous deaths from gun violence in the United States in recent days.

So it came on Friday to a gun attack in a rural area in the US state of Mississippi - six people died.

Some of the victims of the attack are family members of the shooter, according to local police.

US President Joe Biden again called for stricter gun laws after the renewed bloodbath.

"Enough," he declared on Friday.

“The year is only 48 days old and our nation has already suffered at least 73 mass shootings.

Thoughts and prayers are not enough.

Gun violence is an epidemic and Congress must act now.« However, a reform of the gun law has been blocked for years by the Republicans, who have also held a majority in the House of Representatives since January.

Just a few days ago, without an initially known motive, a man shot three people on a university campus in Michigan;

in January there were two gun attacks in less than a week in California.

According to the website Gun Violence Archive, more than 44,000 people were killed by guns in the United States last year alone.

More than half of the cases involved homicides, accidents or self-defense.

Three teenagers, including a pregnant woman, were also killed by gunfire in Texas on Saturday.

According to authorities, the three girls, aged 19, 14 and 13, were shot and killed by a man who had also sexually abused a 12-year-old girl, later fled and then shot himself.

The murders took place at the home of the shooter's girlfriend in a suburb of Houston.

Nine teenagers - including a five-year-old child - were also injured after gunfire at a gas station in a city in the state of Georgia on the Alabama border, the authorities said on Saturday.

According to the police, there had apparently been an argument at a party nearby, which then spread to the gas station.

A police officer from Temple University in Philadelphia was also shot dead near the campus over the weekend.

An 18-year-old will have to answer for murder and other offenses in court, according to the responsible public prosecutor.

In the US state of Tennessee, a person was shot dead early Sunday and ten others were injured.

According to the police, there was a shooting in a nightclub.
