In Bremen, two young people seriously injured a tram driver.
The man drove into a turning loop in the Hemelingen district shortly before midnight on Sunday and stopped behind another train, the police said.
There he saw two youths at the closed back doors of the tram.
When the 26-year-old tram driver drew the young people's attention to the fact that this train was no longer running, they reportedly attacked him.
They hit him in the face and head several times with their fists.
As the man lay on the ground, the attackers continued to kick him, including again in his head.
Only when residents became aware did the teenagers let go of the man and fled.
Rescue workers treated the injured and took him to a hospital.
The criminal police began investigations into dangerous bodily harm.
The young perpetrators are said to be around 16 to 17 years old.
Witnesses were called to come forward.
