A 47-year-old fled the Coburg district court on Monday.
The police have launched a manhunt for the man.
As the "Neue Presse" reports, the man is to stand trial for the sexual abuse of his daughters.
Accordingly, he escaped during a break in negotiations through a window.
His ankle cuffs had previously been removed because he wanted to go to the toilet.
In fact, the court calendar in Coburg in the morning included a hearing against a father of seven on suspicion of sexual abuse.
According to information from the "Neue Presse", the regional court had issued an arrest warrant against the man 14 days ago because of the risk of absconding.
The fugitive was last in the Kronach prison, said a police spokesman.
After the escape of a convicted murderer from the district court in Regensburg, this is the second case of this kind in Bavaria within a few weeks.
