(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 20 - A total of 339,040 passports have been issued since the beginning of the year, of which 59,425 in the last week alone.
In particular, 190,456 documents were released in January, 148,584 were issued from 1 to 19 February.
This, reports the Viminale, "is the result, to date, of the extraordinary plan activated by the police offices throughout the national territory thanks to the aggregation of personnel, the organization of task forces dedicated, respectively, to the acquisition of requests and their processing, the extension of the days and hours of opening to the public, the opening of open days on Saturdays and Sundays, dedicated appointments for emergencies, the acquisition of applications with alternative methods to the online agenda,
In recent weeks, some parliamentary questions had also raised the problem of delays in issuing passports in various provinces.
The extraordinary commitment, assures the ministry, will continue in the coming weeks.
