Anyone who uses the rescue lane without permission faces a fine of 240 euros and two points in Flensburg.
After Bayern Munich's Bundesliga game in Mönchengladbach on Saturday evening, police officers in North Rhine-Westphalia apparently had their difficulties complying with this regulation.
They guided the team bus of the soccer club from Munich through a rescue lane that drivers had formed on the A52 for rescue workers.
This is reported, among others, by the »Rheinische Post« and the »Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger«.
»Basically, team buses are not preferred«
The officials are said to have acted against the explicit instructions of the operations manager.
And so it was for the soccer team from Munich, which was on the way to the airport, with blue lights flashing through the emergency lane - while hundreds of other drivers had to wait.
According to reports, an accident off the highway preceded it, which ultimately led to the long backlog on the A52.
At the latest, the headlines about the action have now also caused self-criticism among the police.
»Basically, team buses are not preferred.
In this case it happened anyway.
The circumstances why it was done anyway are now being investigated,” said a police spokesman for the “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”.
And: “We apologize that this happened.” Initial talks have already been held.
According to the broadcaster WDR, the officials concerned are still on duty.
Whether they are Bayern Munich fans is unknown.
Driving on a rescue lane without permission is a misdemeanor.
Rescue lanes are intended to ensure that the police, rescue services, fire brigade and towing companies can get to the scene of an accident more quickly.
