Whatsapp has released numerous new functions in recent months.
Some practical new settings are currently being added.

Now the meta group goes one step further and offers three new functions.

So there is now a practical "holiday mode": The term itself is not used by Whatsapp, rather it got stuck from a beta test.
The test took place in 2021, when Whatsapp tested a way to permanently mute chats and called it vacation mode.
Use Whatsapp in vacation mode - two practical advantages
In the meantime, this function has long since been activated, but today it is called "leave chats in the archive".
The idea behind it: If you want to be left alone, you will no longer be disturbed by the archived chats and they will no longer appear in the chat overview.
This is the advantage over the "Mute notification" function - because you can still see newly received messages here.
So that you don't completely forget your archived chats, the archived folder is now at the top of the overview.
It's so easy to archive chats on Whatsapp:
WhatsApp and go to the chat overview.
Press and hold the chat to be archived with your finger, then a selection of options from 5 icons will appear at the top of the app.
The second icon from the right is a folder with an arrow pointing down - tap this icon and the selected chat is already archived.

the number of characters in the group descriptions will be increased from 512 to a whopping 2048 characters.

Incidentally, you can still insert emojis in the group name - an emoji then counts as one character.
