Tired of tediously scrubbing the kitchen sink?

With the right home remedies, the sink cleans itself while you sleep.

Grease, limescale and other dirt can turn your kitchen sink into an unsightly place in no time at all.

If you let the daily cleaning slip, you will have to deal with stubborn, brown deposits later on that are difficult to remove.

A basic cleaning is therefore necessary.

However, you don't have to scrub hard to do this.

With the right home remedies, the sink will clean itself.

1. Clean the stainless steel sink - with baking soda and dishwasher tabs

According to Ökotest,

the best way to

remove limescale stains in stainless steel sinks is to use household remedies such as baking powder or baking soda: simply mix the white powder with a little water to form a viscous paste and apply in circular motions.

After an exposure time of about an hour, rinse off with water - done.

For particularly stubborn dirt, put some water in the sink in the evening and dissolve a dishwasher tab in it.

Leave it all on overnight.

All brown deposits should be gone by the next morning.

Dishwasher tabs are considered a real miracle cure in the household anyway, because they not only clean dishes, but also clothes, toilets or washing machines effortlessly.

2. Clean the ceramic sink with washing-up liquid

Ceramic kitchen sinks are relatively insensitive and can be easily cleaned of grease and dirt.

However, you should avoid using aggressive cleaning agents such as scouring milk or stainless steel sponges so that the surface is not damaged and retains its shine.

If dirt does get stuck, simply run hot water into the sink and add a little washing-up liquid.

Then leave it on overnight.

Stains and deposits can be easily washed away the next day.

3. Clean the Silgranit sink with detergent

Silgranit sinks are considered to be particularly insensitive to dirt, as stains cannot penetrate through their closed surface.

If discolouration does occur, according to the manufacturer, this can be easily removed with detergent.

And this is how it works: Use a sponge to spread some detergent powder or gel in the dampened sink.

Then fill up with hot water (at least 60 °C), leave on for a few hours or overnight and then rinse off the next day.

To prevent stubborn dirt, there is also a trick that lets the sink shine for weeks: simply seal the surface of your stainless steel sink with a little baby oil.
