Markus Lanz and his wife Angela are no longer a couple.
The TV presenter's lawyer, Christian Schertz, confirmed to the dpa news agency that the two had separated some time ago.
In the interests of their children, the lawyer asked that his client's privacy be respected.
The couple have been married since 2011, but have kept their private lives out of the public eye as much as possible.
Markus and Andrea Lanz have two daughters, and a son comes from a previous relationship between the 53-year-old and presenter Birgit Schrowange.
Markus Lanz is best known for his ZDF talk show of the same name.
Together with the publicist Richard David Precht, he runs the podcast »Lanz & Precht«.
So far, Angela Lanz has made little public appearances.
However, last year she founded a lifestyle Instagram channel with her friend Estefania Heidemanns.
