With its many extras and the haunting sound of
Boléro
, Maurice Ravel's biopic, signed Anne Fontaine, with Raphaël Personnaz, is one of the most ambitious films of 2023. Filming will begin on March 9, 48 hours later. the anniversary of the composer's birth and will end in mid-May.
The team will first film in Paris and Île-de-France.
Scenes from Ravel's 1928 American tour, including an evening at a jazz club in Harlem, New York, with
Gershwin's
The Man I Love , will be filmed in Brussels and at the Opéra de Liège.
To avoid having to erase the modern buildings that dominate the beaches of Biarritz and Saint-Jean-de-Luz, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, with special effects, the seaside scenes will be shot in Perros-Guirec, in the Côtes-d'Armor.
