(ANSA) - ROME, FEBRUARY 21 - "It is different to talk about numbers or to see people's lives destroyed for no reason, we have seen flowers and soft toys: it is different, it is worth seeing".
Thus Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, at the conclusion of her visit to Irpin, where she handed over to the local authorities two generators to support critical infrastructures, which are part of a lot of 52, for over 660 thousand euros donated by the Italian government to Ukraine.
Before the brief symbolic ceremony, alongside two of the 45 firefighters donated by the Italians, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni listened to the mayor of Irpin tell the story of the destruction of this area, asking him various questions about the population and how long it would take to rebuild the city.
"Having the money - answered the mayor -, in two years the whole city can be rebuilt".
"I hope to be able to transfer what I have seen to the Italians, the importance of the work we are doing, friendship and gratitude, because this too is important to lend a hand with ever greater commitment", underlined the Prime Minister who then signed the flag of the city, leaving his signature next to that of other leaders, and a dedication: "At your side!"
