Two more earthquakes have shaken the border area in southern Turkey and northern Syria.
According to the Turkish civil protection authority Afad, they had strengths of 6.4 and 5.8 and were therefore weaker than the devastating tremors two weeks ago.
There were also more than 20 aftershocks.
At least six people were killed and hundreds injured in Hatay province on Monday, according to the Anadolu news agency.
Hundreds of people were injured again in Syria.
Aslan Garacolgu, resident:
»It felt like the ground was tearing apart.
The ground shook, we were very scared.
We thought the floor would tear apart.«
On February 6, two earthquakes caused catastrophic destruction in parts of Turkey and Syria.
The death toll is now more than 47,000.
After the new earthquake, people flocked to the streets again because the risk of massive buildings collapsing again was too great.
Ayse Yildirim, resident of Diyarbakir:
»It's the same fear, the same sense of uneasiness.
We can't go in.
And if so, then we can't stay.
We don't know what to do.
God have mercy on us.
There's nothing to say."
This politician was struck by the earthquake during a live interview with Bengu Turk TV.
Footage from civilians and surveillance cameras show the tremors.
And maybe not everything is over yet.

In addition to this helper, the mayor of Hatay also warned that the earthquake series was not over yet.
He called on people to continue to stay away from buildings in danger of collapsing.
