Confirmation of the life sentence for Innocent Oseghale was requested by the Attorney General of Perugia, coordinated by Sergio Sottani, in the context of the bis appeal process underway before the Court of Assizes of Appeal of the Umbrian capital.

Oseghale has already been sentenced to life imprisonment for having killed and dismembered the young Pamela Mastropietro in January 2018 in Macerata.

The bis trial underway in Perugia concerns only sexual violence.

Confirmation of the life sentence was advanced by the deputy prosecutor of the Republic of Perugia Paolo Barlucchi at the start of his indictment.

"Oseghale killed Pamela if she were here I would tell him: you killed her, you are a murderer. You necessarily start from here" underlined the magistrate.

According to which "in that house there was sexual assault and during that sexual assault Pamela was killed".

"Pamela was not a prostitute" Barlucchi said again.

"There is a truth in her life - he added - which is psychic suffering, suffering in family relationships, the

suffering that heroin addiction gives you. No moral judgments about Pamela, but understanding, affection and a cold and lucid evaluation on what the cards and the facts say. Pamela used her body because she didn't know what else to do, she was alone, she was hungry, she had run away in the morning, she was at an extreme, she didn't know where to go, she was in heroin withdrawal".

"Pamela was in Oseghale's hands - he highlighted - with the sale of heroin he kept her on a leash. Oseghale initially denied having had sexual relations, he denied it because he killed her in doing so. Oseghale's care in washing the parts of Pamela's body in which he had raged to kill her and which could be revealing, both of the administration of the drug and of sexual intercourse, makes us understand his need not to leave a trace of himself. Oseghale thought he was dealing with a lost addict and instead found a girl who only gave her body out of necessity. I have no doubt that there was sexual violence and that there was an opposition from Pamela who did not imagine meeting a brutal murder "

The witnesses summoned for the trial were heard behind closed doors.

The decision was made by the President of the Court of Assizes of Appeal, Paolo Micheli, accepting the request of one of them.

In particular, these are the two men with whom Pamela had relations after leaving the community where she was and before being killed.

In the request to be heard behind closed doors, the witness's lawyer spoke of the need "to protect the confidentiality of the witness who has already been the victim of the unwanted media clamor connected to the affair and the safety of the same".

Pamela's father and mother, Alessandra Verni, were present at the hearing, but not the defendant.

Even today, friends of the young woman carpeted the square outside the Palace of Justice with banners in support of the victim's family and against Oseghale.

"Justice for Pamela Mastropietro" reads one of these,
