Moscow's suspension of the New Start treaty is "a grave mistake".
This was stated by American President Joe Biden, opening a summit of the so-called Bucharest 9 group (B9) in which the heads of state of Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia take part, as well as the NATO Secretary Jens Stoltenberg, on the last day of his visit to Warsaw
The B9 group was founded in 2015 on the initiative of Poland and Romania to coordinate the security policies of Russia's neighboring countries.
The objective of the meeting is to aim at strengthening NATO's presence in the countries that are part of the group.
"After Putin's invasion of Ukraine, it is even more important to remain united," Biden stressed.
"You are at the front, and you know what is at stake", she added, reiterating that the United States will defend "every inch of NATO territory".
For his part, Stoltenberg said that "we don't know when the war will end, but we certainly can no longer allow Russia to
affect European security, we must break this cycle of aggression from Moscow", recalling the conflicts in which, "from that in Georgia in 2008", Russia was involved.
After the B9 meeting, Biden will hold a bilateral meeting with the Atlantic secretary, before departing back to the United States around 5pm.
