Students at the University of Cambridge in the UK have voted to support vegan-only catering on campus.
The student body Cambridge Students' Union voted on Monday with a majority of 72 percent, as the initiators of the Plant Based Universities campaign and the Guardian reported.
"It's great that the Cambridge Students' Union has accepted our proposal to work with the university to introduce a fair and sustainable plant-based catering system," said William Smith, 24, of Plant Based Universities.
In Great Britain, the group is committed to ensuring that universities only offer vegan products.
It is not guaranteed whether the vote of the student representatives will be implemented by the caterers.
According to the Guardian, the decision lies with the university.
A spokesman for the University of Cambridge said, "We always welcome suggestions from students and staff".
The university pursues a “sustainable food policy that also aims to actively promote plant-based options”.
As early as 2016, she removed beef and lamb from the menu.
