Variety, new Rolling Stones album with two Beatles

(ANSA) - NEW YORK, FEBRUARY 22 - After decades of rivalry, two legends in rock history are about to join forces: almost 60 years after their first meeting, the Rolling Stones are reportedly working together with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, the two surviving Beatles, in view of a new album.

This was learned by 'Variety' which cites "multiple sources".

It could be the holy grail of rock music.

    According to the entertainment newspaper, the 80-year-old Sir Paul would have recorded bass guitar parts for a project by Sir Mick's band coordinated by Andrew Watt, the 2021 Grammy award for producer of the year who has recently worked with stars such as Elton John and Dua Lipa.

The 82-year-old Ringo would also be on board, although it is not clear in what kind of collaboration.

    "There's new music on the way," Stones guitarist Keith Richards announced on Instagram for New Year's Eve.

The album would be the Stones' first original music since 2005's A Bigger Bang, but it's not like the 'rolling stones' have sat idle ever since.

Jagger has been stockpiling songs for a new record for years and said in 2021 that "there are a lot of songs" ready for something new, which could also include songs recorded by Charlie Watts, the group's drummer, before passing away in August 2021. In 2016 The RollingStones have released Blue and Lonesome, a compilation of blues covers featuring two songs by Eric Clapton.
