To walk on a volcano that no longer provides lava.

This time, as part of recommending itineraries for the whole family, the Sde Alon Tabor School of the Society for the Protection of Nature recommends a circular route in the Horns of Hitin in the Galilee, one of the three volcanoes of the Lower Galilee.
This is a trip to one of the most important natural areas in the region, and it combines blooming nature, wild animals and a fascinating historical story.
We start the route on a blue path going up to the mouth of the mountain.
The word crater suggests to us that we are climbing an extinct volcano, at the end of the climb you can actually see the walls of that crater and you can only imagine how the lava poured out during the eruption.
During the pilgrimage, a black monument was also seen with an inscription in several languages "Church of God", according to a stream of Christian Protestants - where Jesus demanded the "Ashray speech" from which the foundations of the Christian faith were derived (most Christians attribute the Ashray speech to the Mount of Beatitudes).
When you reach the top, look west (left) and you can see an information sign about the "Battle of the Horns of Chitin" that took place at the foot of the mountain in 1187.
It was a very important battle that affected the Land of Israel and the entire Levant, during which the Crusaders led by Gui de Lisinian lost to the Ayyubids under the authority of Saladin, and in fact a new period of rule in the country began.

Refreshment stop in the shade of the olive trees
After the observation we will continue towards the north, you can make a refreshment stop in the shade of the olive trees overlooking the Sea of Galilee.
We will continue on the path and climb the large basalt stones until we reach the red/blue path split.
The blue route continues towards the tomb complex of Nabi Shuaib (suitable for those who drove there from the top of the spring), while the red route goes back towards the parking lot.
We continue on the red road towards the west and get a spectacular view to the northwest, walking carefully on the crater of the volcano until we connect to a black jeep trail, with which we continue south until we get back to the car.
