Coming soon in London: David Bowie Museum.

The renowned art, design and creation center V&A (Victoria and Albert Museum) in the British capital, purchased an archive containing about 80,000 thousand items from the late singer's estate, for an estimated amount of more than 12 million dollars.

The rare collection includes, among other things, musical instruments that Bowie played, awards he won, notebooks in which he wrote, costumes, personal letters, original photographs, stage props from performances, musical raw materials and a host of other objects of great financial, artistic and sentimental value - all of which belonged To the wonderful pop-rock chameleon who passed away in 2016.

Although some of the items were presented to the general public as part of an exhibition in his memory, which was shown in museums around the world between 2013 and 2018, the vast majority of them have never been revealed.

All this is about to change in 2025, with the opening of "The David Bowie Center for the Study of Performing Arts", built in the London suburb of Stratford.

The new center will actually function as an extension of the V&A, and is being established with the support of the record company Warner Music Group - which last year purchased Bowie's entire album catalog for more than a quarter of a billion dollars.

"The archive will document Bowie's innovative creative process as a musician and cultural icon, who championed self-expression and reinvented himself every time - from the beginning of his career in the 1960s until his death in 2016," said the announcement of the establishment of the center, which will devote resources to research and learning about the legacy he left behind come after him

In other words, it is not an ordinary museum, but an institution that will be a pilgrimage center for fans of the singer in particular, and music lovers in general.

The center will also contain reading and listening rooms, conservation laboratories and creative complexes.

"David Bowie was one of the greatest musicians and performers of all time," said Dr Tristram Hunt, director of the V&A.

"We are excited to take custody of his incredible archive and present it to the public. Bowie's radical innovation in the fields of music, theater, film, fashion and style - from Berlin to Tokyo to London - continues to influence today's culture and inspire artists such as (singers) J Enel Mona and Lady Gaga, (actress and his close friend) Tilda Swinton and (designer) Raf Simons," concluded the director.
