(ANSA) - LONDON, FEBRUARY 23 - David Bowie will soon have an exclusive exhibition space in London, entirely dedicated to his memorabilia from 2025.

The announcement comes from the Victoria & Albert Museum, which in recent months has completed the acquisition of the immense Bowie archive: 80,000 pieces including letters, costumes, photos and other objects related to the life and career of one of the symbolic musicians in the history of rock and pop British and world, died aged 69 in 2016.

The structure will be called the David Bowie Center for the Study of Performing Art and will be set up in the east of the capital of the United Kingdom, the creative heart of recent decades not too far from Brixton, the once popular southern suburb of the metropolis which gave birth to the musician on 8 January 1947 and that back in 1962 offered the first stage to his eccentric and eclectic genius, still as a teenager.

The collection - underlined Tristram Hunt, former deputy and director of the prestigious V&A in a note - will also make available to the public unpublished elements "of the creative process of a music innovator and an icon of" pop culture.

And it will include not only manuscripts of musical texts, scores, missives, instruments, but also costumes such as those made famous by the album Ziggy Stardust, dated 1972, or by the concerts of the Alladin Sane Tour of '73.

As well as photos and portraits made by some of the greatest photographers of the 20th century such as Terry O'Neill, Brian Duffy or Helmut Newton.

"Becoming the guardians of these incredible archives and having the power to open them to the public is a dream come true," added Hunt.
