Thanked in November by Buckingham Palace after making racist remarks, the former lady-in-waiting to Queen Elizabeth II and godmother to Prince William would have a new “royal” role.

Three months ago, Lady Susan Hussey resigned with a bang from Buckingham Palace.

Blame it on his “racist” remarks towards a black feminist activist during an official reception at the Palace.

The scandal had made the headlines of the English press and since then, we had not seen the face of this former assistant, very close to Elizabeth II and godmother of Prince William.

Except that a member of the royal family decided otherwise.

A discreet return

As revealed by the very informed

Daily Mail,

on February 22, Princess Anne recently (re) called on Lady Susan for a small service.

The sister of King Charles III realized she would not be able to attend the memorial service given in honor of Lady Campbell-Preston (who served as lady-in-waiting to the Queen Mother from 1965 to 2002), on Tuesday 21 February at Chelsea Royal Hospital.

And it is quite naturally towards the friend of her deceased mother, aged 83, that she turned.

"Lady Susan has been officially asked to represent the Princess Royal at the ceremony," a family friend told the British tabloid.

“She was more than happy to do it.

His official position was recorded in the order of service.

Curiously, the role of Lady Susan was not mentioned in the “Court Circular”, the daily bulletin which lists all the official royal functions, underlines the

.

The document had however indicated that King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla were officially represented at the office by the Earl of Rosslyn.

“In general, only the people representing the king or the queen consort during the commemorations are recorded in the circular of the Court”, justify their side of the royal sources.

But to add further confusion to the matter, Lady Susan was reportedly spotted visiting Buckingham Palace this week.

The “lady of the royal house” would have borrowed the staff entrance.

"Where are you from in Africa?"

Lady Susan Hussey resigned on November 30 after a new racist incident rocked the Windsor clan.

In a tweet, feminist activist Ngozi Fulani said she was arrested ten minutes after her arrival by "Lady SH", who had "moved her hair to see the name on my badge".

She added that after explaining that she was there as a representative of her association based in London, her interlocutor then asked her: “No, but where are you from in Africa?”

and continued to insist when Ngozi Fulani replied that she was British.

“No, but where are you really from?

Where do people like you come from?

Ngozi Fulani also explains that he did not know what to answer or what to do.

"I couldn't tell the queen consort and it was a shock for me as for the other two women (by my side), we remained stunned and silent".

Buckingham's apology

Buckingham Palace immediately reacted, firmly condemning such remarks.

“During this meeting, full of warmth and understanding, Lady Susan offered her sincere apologies for the comments that were made and the distress they caused to Ms Fulani.

Lady Susan is committed to deepening her awareness of the sensitivities at play and is grateful for the opportunity to learn more about the issues in this area,” the palace said in a statement.

The incident occurred just as Prince William and his wife Kate were embarking on a three-day trip to the United States, their first in eight years, which is particularly important for the British monarchy.

“Racism has no place in our society,” said the spokesman for the heir to the crown from Boston.

"These comments were unacceptable."
